PEMF therapy at home: use, effects and limits
How it works, what Biomag uses it for and what to keep in mind

Key takeaways
At home, you use PEMF therapy with a control unit and an applicator.
Biomag describes five areas of effect. The information comes from the manufacturer.
Which applicator fits depends on the part of the body.
Check the contraindications before use. Have unclear complaints checked by a doctor first.
If you want to get moving again after an injury, surgery or with ongoing complaints, you may be looking for something you can use at home. Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy is one option. This article explains how it works, what Biomag uses it for and where its limits are.
What is PEMF therapy?
In pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, known internationally as PEMF, a control unit generates electromagnetic pulses. An applicator delivers them to the body, for example a mat or a smaller applicator for a specific spot. According to the manufacturer, the pulses work through clothing.
What Biomag uses the therapy for
Biomag describes five areas of effect. The information comes from the manufacturer and does not replace a medical assessment:
Relieve pain
Support healing and regeneration
Reduce swelling
Promote blood circulation
Relax muscles
In consultations, customers mostly ask us about joint complaints, back problems, muscle tension and recovery after surgery. Whether it is an option in your case is something we discuss at the appointment. Please have unclear complaints checked by a doctor first.
What makes home use different
Biomag recommends 20 minutes twice a day and at least 10 sessions. That is easiest when the device is at home. You can then use the therapy regularly, without appointments or travel.
Which applicator for which part of the body?
AL180-3D (Delta 3): three-part mat measuring 180 × 70 cm for full-body use lying down.
SL30-3D (Sigma 9): round applicator for arms and legs.
AL33-Boot: shaped applicator for foot and ankle.
We help you find the combination of control unit and applicator that fits your situation. Read more in our buying guide.
When you must not use the therapy
According to Biomag, contraindications include pregnancy, pacemakers, bleeding conditions, malignant tumors, feverish conditions and pain of unknown origin. The complete list is in the user manual.
